BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- The 11th Group of 20 (G20) summit is to be held in China's eastern city of Hangzhou on Sept. 4-5. Themed "Toward an Innovative, Invigorated, Interconnected and Inclusive World Economy," the summit aims to implement the consensus reached at former G20 summits, and stress innovation, reform and development.

Established in September 1999, the group aims to promote global economic growth and development by strengthening the architecture of international finance.

The following is the brief introduction of previous G20 summits.

On Nov. 14-15, 2008, the first G20 Leader' Summit took place in Washington, the United States, primarily focusing on strengthening financial regulation.

On April 2, 2009 in London, Britain, the G20 leaders met for the second time with priority on coordinated fiscal and monetary stimulus measures to avert the threat of global depression.

On Sept. 24-25, 2009 in Pittsburgh, the United States, the G20 leaders discussed further actions to assure a sound and sustainable recovery from the global financial and economic crisis.

On June 26-27, 2010 in Toronto, Canada, the fourth summit of G20 leaders was convened under the theme of "Recovery and New Beginnings" to begin developing a framework for strong, sustainable and balanced growth.
