BERLIN, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Dortmund bounced back from two goals down to see off Bayer Leverkusen with four second-half goals at the 6th round in Bundesliga on Saturday.

The "Werkself" took the reins from the start and dominated the opening stages to break the deadlock with nine minutes when Lucas Alario's cross met Mitchell Weiser, who fired the ball past Dortmund goalie Roman Buerki from outside the box.

Dortmund were shocked and unable to respond whereas Leverkusen controlled possession.

As the match progressed, Dortmund recovered from the early setback as Christian Pulisic and Marco Reus tested Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky.

Just when Dortmund had gained a foothold into the match, Leverkusen doubled the lead out of thin air. The visitors failed to clear the ball following a corner when Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah made it 2-0 before the break.

After the restart, Leverkusen continued to dictate the pace on the pitch as Julian Brandt forced Bureki to make a safe before Kevin Volland rattled the woodwork.

Leverkusen's wastefulness got punished in the 65th minute when Jacob Bruun Larsen poked home Marco Reus' blocked shot on target from close range.

The hosts were shocked hence Dortmund needed another three minutes to restore parity as Marco Reus exchanged a one-two with substitute Jadon Sancho before slotting home from central position.

Dortmund gained momentum and completed the comeback in the 85th minute after substitute Paco Alcacer tapped home Achraf Hakimi's assist.

The summer signing wasn't done with the scoring as he wrapped up his brace after scoring into the empty goal following a counter attack in the dying minutes of the game.

With the second win in row, Dortmund take the top spot in the standings while Leverkusen slipped to the 12th position

"We had our chances to win the game. It was overall a good performance but we weren't focused in the crucial moments," Bayer Leverkusen head coach Heiko Herrlich said.

"What a great game we played. Leverkusen could have established a 3-0 lead instead we played fast paced football in the second half to crave out a victory," Borussia Dortmund head coach Lucien Favre said.

The following fixtures complete the 6th round on Sunday. Eintracht Frankfurt face Hannover and Augsburg face Freiburg.
