SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- U.S. electric automaker Tesla Inc. said Monday that its Model 3 sedan has the lowest overall probability of injury for any car ever tested by U.S. traffic safety regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

"Model S is #2. Model X is #3. There is no safer car in the world than a Tesla," Tesla@Tesla said in a tweeted post.

The company said Model 3 provides superior safety with its front crumple zone which is optimized to absorb energy and crush upon impact, and it also has the lowest intrusion from side pole impact of any vehicle tested by the (NHTSA).

Based on the advanced architecture of Model S and Model X, Model 3 achieved a perfect 5-star safety rating in every category and sub-category after the NHTSA tested Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive as part of a series of crash tests used to calculate the likelihood of serious bodily injury for front, side and rollover crashes.

The unique architecture of Tesla 3, which has no engine but a heavy centered battery pack, adds to the car's overall agility and handling, and "improves the capability of stability control by minimizing rotational kinetic energy," said the U.S. electric automaker.

The safety report of Tesla Model 3 sedan, which is not immediately verified by the data released by the NHTSA, though, may be a booster to the company's marketing efforts following a recent record production of its electric vehicles.

On Oct. 2, Tesla announced its production of electric vehicles has hit 80,142 units in the third quarter, 50 percent more than the previous corresponding period.

Tesla said it has delivered an overall 83,500 vehicles in the third quarter, including 55,840 Model 3, 14,470 Model S, and 13,190 Model X, indicating the firm has achieved its production goals for the quarter. Enditem
